About the event

Lindsey Lawton is the founder of Lawton Law, PLLC, an appellate law firm, where she operates as a solo practitioner focusing on appeals. In addition to her work for Lawton Law, Lindsey works as an appellate attorney for The Brownlee Law Firm, in an “of counsel” role. Before going into private practice, Lindsey was a long-term law clerk in the Florida Court System. She began her legal career at Florida’s First District Court of Appeal, where she clerked for Judge Joseph Lewis, Jr. and Judge Stephanie Ray, for a total of almost ten years. After clerking for the First District Court of Appeal, Lindsey became a career staff attorney for Justice Alan Lawson of the Florida Supreme Court.

Lindsey will give attendees a suggested approach to writing a Florida appellate brief, from basic set up of the document to the research and writing process through final proofreading and submission. TWL's Catherine Chapman Award will also be presented at this event!

Childcare will be provided for FREE through Seminole Sitters, an award-winning local babysitting service. All sitters are background checked and CPR/First Aid Certified. Seminole Sitters is insured and pediatrician recommended. If your child will attend, please e-mail president@mytwl.org with their age and whether they have any special needs, considerations, or allergies, by no later than Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

Families are welcomed and encouraged to bring along a favorite toy, book, activity (with the understanding that other children may ask to share) as well as a sippy cup, diaper bag, etc. Potty training children should also have a change of clothes. Whatever is brought should be labeled with the child's name.
