The goal of this $1,000 scholarship is to promote the Tallahassee Women Lawyers (TWL) mission and provide financial support to the recipient while studying for the Florida Bar Exam. It is made possible through the generous donations of TWL members, friends, and sponsors. Each year a scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Florida law school student or graduate registered to take and takes the Florida Bar Exam the summer following the application deadline. The award recipient will be invited to attend a TWL event in Tallahassee, where they will be recognized and welcomed to make brief remarks.

 

Eligibility Requirements
1. Be a graduate of a Florida law school (graduating 3Ls are encouraged to apply).
2. Provide proof of registration for the July 2025 Florida Bar Exam prior to award receipt.
3. Demonstrable connection to the Tallahassee community, past, present, or future.

 

Award and Selection Process
Applicants should submit the following:
1. An application form.
2. Proof of Florida Bar Exam registration, if available. If not available at the time of application, proof
of registration will be required within five business days of award notification.
3. A personal essay (No more than one page, 12-point Times New Roman font, single spaced, oneinch margins).
4. One letter of recommendation.
5. Official law school transcript from current and any past law school(s) attended.
6. A résumé detailing educational and work history, as well as any special skills, licenses, credentials,
experiences, and achievements.
7. Brief statement of financial need, if applicable.

Application Submission Instructions
The scholarship application must be submitted electronically to: twlscholarship2025@mytwl.org. The
applicant must ensure the scholarship application is complete and that all required information and
documentation is submitted with the application in a single email on or before the deadline. Incomplete or
untimely applications will not be considered.

The TWL Scholarship Committee will evaluate applicants based on the following criteria:

•  Advancement of one or more of the purposes of TWL: (1) to promote the status of women in the
  legal community; and (2) to create, improve, and maintain supportive networks in the legal 
  profession through mutual cooperation, respect, and good friendship; and (3) to promote diversity, equality, and inclusiveness in the legal profession; and (4) to give back to the community.

The TWL Scholarship Committee will select three (3) finalists to submit to the TWL Board of Directors.
Final selection will be made via a majority vote of the full Board. The recipient will be notified by email
by on or before May 14, 2025.
